- Medium-Duty Upholstery: Many polyester versions of crushed velvet are highly durable, with rub counts often exceeding 20,000. This makes it a great choice for low-to-medium traffic furniture items like headboards, ottomans, or occasional accent chairs.
- Recommended Cleaning: To maintain the signature crushed texture, it is best to avoid machine washing for most types, favouring professional dry cleaning. If you must wash it, use a cold, gentle cycle and line dry, as high heat can damage the pile.
- Avoiding Damage: Never iron crushed velvet directly, as the pressure can permanently flatten the pile. To remove creasing, lightly steam the fabric from the back. It is also recommended to keep velvet away from direct, harsh sunlight to prevent fading.
